Damien Shaw (An Post-Chain Reaction) will be competing in his first race of the year in the one day Visit Nenagh Classic on Saturday 1st April. This will be Shaw’s eagerly awaited return following a crash in training that left him with a broken wrist and ribs. The Mullingar man will use this first race as a stepping stone to more competitive challenges.

“It is great to have Damien Shaw back,” said An Post Directeur Sportif Kurt Bogaerts. “He will join us in training next week with the aim to have him competing in an international race in France in mid April.”

However, as one Irishman returns from injury, another is facing time on the sidelines. Conor Hennebry from Waterford, has returned to Ireland and is out of action with a knee injury.

Bogaerts commented positively on Hennebry’s prognosis: “Conor is already back on the bike but he is unable to compete. We hope to have him ready for the next stage race in Loir et Cher in a couple of week’s time.”
