Cyril Gautier (AG2R La Mondiale) had a day to remember on the final stage of this year’s Tour de France.
En route to Paris, the French rider unfurled a piece of paper showing the route profile live on TV with a message which translated as: “Caroline – will you marry me? I love you.”
Gautier showed the paper to the motorbike cameraman as Cannondale-Drapac’s Pierre Rolland rode behind him, shouting, “Say yes, say yes!”
Former professional Robbie McEwen has since provided an update as he tweeted: “Update on the @LeTour marriage proposal by Cyril Gautier…. she said YES”
