The attack happened yesterday in Caledonian Road, Islington when a group attacked four cyclists in an attempt to steal their bikes on the busy London road. Alan Cartwright is seen in the video in the blue body warmer cycling a few meters ahead of his friends when the assalant jumps out from behind a silver minivan and stabs him in the chest. Meanwhile behind more of the attackers manage to knock Alan’s friends off their bikes and make off with the bikes. In the video you can see Alan cycling on but he collapsed shortly afterwards and died. A post-mortem has shown that he died from a single stab wound to the heart. Scotland Yard released the video in the hope that somebody would help capture the killer.
Three people have since been arrested on suspicion of murder. The Metropolitan Police said an 18-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday after attending a north London police station. 17-year-old boy was later arrested on suspicion of murder at a residential address in Camden this morning. And Scotland Yard said a 21-year-old man was also arrested at a property in Camden. All three remain in custody as inquiries by Homicide and Major Crime Command detectives continue.
