A cyclist in Manchester has uploaded a video to YouTube, showing an incident where he confronts a motorist driving along while reading a book.

The YouTube user, who calls himself CycleSmarter, spotted the woman moving slower than the rest of the traffic which raised his suspicions. He looked in her car window to see the woman reading a book while driving. He captured the incident on his helmetcam.

At the next set of lights, he prevented her moving by parking his bike in front of her car, and then went a few cars back to highlight what was happening to a policeman.

The driver explained to the police officer that she feels the cyclist is “picking on her” and says that he was aggressive, when she had her six year old child in the car.

CycleSmarter added the following details to his post:

“The Officer shown in the footage attempted to call yesterday, and managed to get through to me today. He has spoken with the driver, and reiterated my concerns as a person that rides a bicycle. In this case a Section 59 PRA2002 warning will not be issued.”

“As discussed in the footage briefly the Officer was in the process of dealing with another crime report, and I fully understand why that needed to take precedence over my encounter here with the lady driver of NJ64 XTA.”
