Cycling Ireland has announced a two-man team for the UCI 2016 Cyclo-Cross World Championships which take place in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium from the 30th -31st January.

David Conroy will compete in the Junior Men’s category, while David Montgomery will be racing in the U23 event. Conroy and Montgomery have been competing at the UCI World Cups across Europe this season.

Wicklow rider Conroy has been dominant in the junior category in Ireland, topping off his season with a convincing win at the National Championships in Tollymore Forest Park earlier this month.

Riding for An Post-Chainreaction, Montgomery finished second in the Men’s Elite National Championships this year, and will compete as an U23 rider at the Worlds.

After performing strongly throughout the Cyclo-Cross season, the World Championships will provide an opportunity for these young riders to continue their development by gaining experience at the World Championships.
