The riders in the Giro d’Italia are due to tackle the Colle dell’Agnello on the nineteenth stage of this year’s race. At 2,744 metres, the climb is the Cima Coppi of this year’s race, the title given to the highest climb that the riders will go over.

However, a photo posted on Twitter today shows that the climb is still covered in snow just a week before the race arrives.

Tomasz Bojanowski posted the following photo of the climb which shows the work going on to clear the road in advance of next Friday’s stage from Pinerolo to Risoul.

Colle dell'Agnello

The Colle dell’Agnello (French: Col Agnel) on the French-Italian border is the third highest paved road pass of the Alps, after the Stelvio Pass and Col de l’Iseran but is not the only big pass that the riders will face this year.

On the penultimate stage of the race from Guillestre to Sant’Anna di Vinadio, the route will take them over the Col de la Bonette at 2,715 metres.
