With less than 20 kilometres remaining of today’s stage of the Tour de France, two men were clear of the peloton but Eurosport commentator Sean Kelly didn’t give the pair much of a chance of staying clear.

When asked by Carlton Kirby as to whether Thomas Voeckler and Armindo Fonseca had any hope of staying away, Kelly responded: “It’s an impossible task. The only way is if we could get a flock of sheep out in front of the peloton and allow the two breakaway men to take three or four minutes… five minutes I think they would need. That would be their only chance to go for a stage victory for our two leaders on the road.”

He then went on to joke that it was a strategy commonly used in the Rás before going on to outline how much it would cost for a flock of sheep. “150 sheep, you’d be looking at €350…,” reckoned Kelly.
