It’s not often you see multiple Grand Tour winner Chris Froome and top sprinter Marcel Kittel competing directly against each other, but they did so this weekend in an off-the-bike competition.

The pair were amongst the riders who had to travelled to China to take part in the inaugural Shanghai Criterium and prior to the race, they decided to see who was strongest in an arm wrestling match.

It would have seemed that it should have been a foregone conclusion as Kittel is considerably heavier than Froome but the fight went on longer than might have been thought.

Froome went on to win the Shanghai Criterium ahead of Rigoberto Uran and Warren Barguil.
