Four-time Paris-Roubaix winner Tom Boonen has spoken to Sportwereld about who he sees as favourite for Paris-Roubaix.

“For me the big favourite on Sunday is Bradley Wiggins,” Boonen said. “An extraordinary rider, as you have in every generation. Experience? He has that. Everyone sees him as a tour rider, but remember that he has ridden Roubaix at least ten times.”

“Team Sky is strong enough to control the race and to make it hard. Bradley will attack at Carrefour de l’Arbre, I think. And at the finish, he is hard to beat with a small group. He has the experience on the track. Bradley will try something extraordinary, and if he fails? He has at least tried.”

If Wiggins were to win, he would become the first Tour de France winner to win in Roubaix since Bernard Hinault in 1981. Despite his best place in the race to-date being ninth, the Briton is talked of as being one of the favourites. He has stated that it is big aim for the season and has been training specifically for the race.
