Two riders from the Bora-hansgrohe team crashed today at Tirreno-Adriatico when a pedestrian walked across the course in front of the team as they were taking part in the opening 21.5-kilometre team time trial at Lido di Camaiore.
The man was walking across the route on a pedestrian crossing just as the team passed and Rafal Majka collided with him with Oscar Gatto also being taken down.
The Bora-hansgrohe later provided an update on Twitter on the riders’ conditions stating: “Initial reports indicate that @gatto_oscar has sustained some bruising, while @majkaformal went down somewhat harder. Further testing will need to be done to evaluate their injuries. However, both riders finished the stage today.”
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport: “the spectator is conscious and was attended to by the paramedics attending the race and that his condition was not worrying.”
Los idiotas están en todos lados. Lamentable. Esperamos que Óscar Gatto y Rafal Majka se encuentren bien #TirrenoAdriatico pic.twitter.com/Ju8MAEOWwD
