Chinese rider Zhao Jingbiao from Hengxiang was first across the line at the end of stage 4 of the 2015 Tour of Taihu Lake today, but was disqualified afterwards.
Instead, the victory went to Tunisian champion Rafaâ Chtioui (Skydive Dubai). This was after the Chinese rider was seen getting a handsling from his team-mate Wang Meiyin which helped him to get across to Chtioui in the last 1,500 metres.
“I was surprised by how fast the Chinese came across to me but now I know how he did it,” Chtioui said later.
The pair were allowed to stay in the race, but the commissaires gave a penalty of 30 seconds to the two riders for the offence. Jakub Mareczko of the Southeast team retained the overall lead.
