In advance of tomorrow’s Elite Men’s Time Trial at the UCI Road World Championships, Belgian riders have been practicing their bike changes.
The Time Trial course for the Elite Men will only be 42 kilometres long, but the last 3.4 kilometres is straight up Mount Fløyen with an average gradient of 9.1 % and several parts with more than 10%.
With this change in gradient in mind, some riders have made the decision to swap from TT bikes to regular road bikes at the start of the climb to the finish.
Amongst the riders who look like they will be swapping bikes are the Belgian trio of Victor Campenaerts, Yves Lampaert and Laurens de Plus.
The Belgian team have posted videos on Twitter today showing all three riders practicing their bike swaps.

Are they Cross riders? Only 3 steps in the pit area!!!
Shouldn’t allow bike changes — if the tt bikes can’t handle the course they should use road bikes
