Belgium’s Iljo Keisse has expressed his frustration at another rider who tried to take a bidon from a Belgian soigneur at the Men’s World Road Race Championship today. Keisse could be heard on TV coverage of the race shouting out a profanity at Stefan Küng after the incident.
Keisse was riding behind Küng as they passed through a feed station, when the Swiss rider tried to grab a bidon meant for Keisse.
Küng who normally rides for BMC Racing was unable to grab the bidon, and Keisse showed his frustration at missing out on the bottle by shouting: “Ah Küng, f**k you.”
A similar incident happened in the Women’s race yesterday and it’s a reflection of the difficult conditions that the riders are racing in that they are trying to grab any bottle that they can, which is inevitably causing friction in the races.
