The Ronde van Vlaanderen is one of cycling’s most eagerly anticipated races of the season, a Classic that can make one’s career. On April 1st, Niki Terpstra won it for the first time with a long-range solo attack, becoming the first Dutchman in 32 years to take home the trophy.

By doing this, Terpstra cemented his status as one of the peloton’s finest Classics rider and now boasts a palmares which includes Flanders, Paris-Roubaix, E3 Harelbeke and Dwars door Vlaanderen.

This footage from Terpstra’s Quick Step Floors team goes behind the scenes of his second Monument win as the team celebrates the victory and the Dutchman also describes how the race played out.
