Andy Schleck was finally awarded the winner’s trophy for the 2010 Tour de France in Paris last night. The Tour was initially won by Alberto Contador, but the Spaniard was later revealed to have failed a doping test.

In September of that year, Contador revealed that a urine sample he had given on 21 July, a rest day in the 2010 Tour de France, had contained traces of clenbuterol. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) finally decided in February 2012 that Contador lost his results from 2010, declaring Andy Schleck the new winner.

Schleck retired from the sport in October due to an ongoing knee injury, but has since said that he wants to remain involved in the sport in some capacity.
