Bora-Argon 18 have announced the signing of Lukas Pöstlberger. The 23-year-old won the GC of the An Post Rás and a stage of the Tour of Austria among other results this season.

Pöstlberger is competing for Austria at the UCI World Championships in Richmond this week, both in the elite time trial yesterday and the road race on Sunday. Since August, he has been a stagiaire for Bora-Argon 18 and impressed the team with a 10th place in the prologue of the Tour de l’Ain and attacks in numerous races. Being a neo-professional, Pöstlberger receives a two-year contract with the team from 2016 on.

Ralph Denk, Team Manager spoke about the signing: “Lukas is a very versatile and strong rider who competes consistently at a high level. He has been very convincing in the past few weeks and he has already established himself in the team.”

“Lukas brings the potential for classics, time trials and short stage races. Accordingly, he will ride a challenging and diverse race program next year. Those who already win elite races as a U23 rider are natural winners and that’s the mentality needed in the pro ranks.”

At the age of 20, Pöstlberger won the Elite Austrian road championships, becoming the youngest rider ever to win this title. He also won a stage of the Tour de l’Avenir in the same year.
