Following on from a successful An Post Rás last week, where the team took three stage wins in addition to the King of the Mountains jersey, the An Post Chain Reaction team are back in action this week at the Boucles de la Mayenne (2.1) in France.

Taking place from Thursday 1st June to Sunday 4th June, An Post Rás stage five winner Regan Gough will be joined by Mark Stewart, Sean Mackinnon, Adam Jamieson and Jonas Bokeloh. The four-day race will take the riders through the Mayenne and Pays de la Loire regions and for the first time this year, will be broadcast live by L’Equipe.

New Zealand native Regan Gough is in fine form following his stage five win in Dungloe, Donegal last week. Gough was the second of three stage winners for An Post Chain Reaction following Matthew Teggart who captured the third stage in Bundoran and Przemyslaw Kasperkiewicz who claimed the King of the Mountains jersey and the final stage.

The 43rd edition of the Boucles de la Mayenne will see 21 teams and 126 riders take part in a race that begins with a 4.5km prologue Thursday 1st June. Following the prologue, the race will consist of three stages from Friday 2nd June which will see the peloton ride through Saint-Berthevin, Ernée, Chantrigné, Hambers and Saint-Cyr-le-Gravelais before the final stage finish on Sunday 4th June in Laval.

Commenting on his teams rich vein of form, team manager Kurt Bogaerts said: “I was delighted with the team performance in An Post Rás last week and I hope this team can continue on with the success.”

Meanwhile, An Post Rás third stage winner Matthew Teggart, final stage winner Przemyslaw Kasperkiewicz, general classification fifth Damien Shaw and Sean McKenna will head to Ronde Van de l’Oise next week.

Bogaerts summed up the excellent week by saying: “We hoped to have a stage win and maybe a strong result in the overall general classification. To come home with three stage wins, the King of the Mountains jersey and Shaw the best of the Irish riders with fifth in general classification – it exceeded all our expectations!”
