More questions on laws related to cycling are to be included on the Idaho driving test. The Idaho Department of Transportation are adding the additional questions after five-year-old Max Wyatt was struck by a car and dragged last September in Boise.

Max was dragged about 40 feet after being hit by the car and hospitalised in Utah for multiple serious injuries. His injuries included a collapsed lung, broken pelvis and broken left leg. He came home from the hospital earlier this month.

“I think it is fair to say this tragedy kind of opened the discussion” Steve Grant, a spokesman for the Idaho Department of Transportation told The Idaho Statesman.

Questions about car and bicycle laws have always been a part of the driving test. However, it it was possible to get a test that did not have a question on the subject, Grant said.

Now, people taking the written test can expect to see one. The change will happen in the next few weeks.
