A.S.O. have announced the route of the 2016 Paris-Roubaix, which will be held on Sunday April 10, and this year will include 52.8kms of cobblestones. This will be just one hundred metres more than in 2015, but the riders will have to cope with the return of the uphill Hameau du Buat sector. The race distance will be 257.5kms.
The changes are subtle but significant. The “Trouée d’Arenberg”, the Mons-en-Pévèle sector and the “Carrefour de l’Arbre” are still expected to be the most crucial sectors of pavé.
This year, the route change will bring the peloton to Hameau du Buat on a unique uphill sector. This “short hill”, back after a three-year absence, will be tackled by the riders at the start of the cobblestones (km 127).
Various sectors of pavé have been partially renovated thanks to the initiative of the Pays de Pévèle Community of towns. These sectors include those at Bersée (km 203.5), Mons-en-Pévèle (km 209) and Bourghelles (km 231).
